Psychological Assessment

We are fully equipped to carry out traditional psychological evaluations, neuropsychological assessments, and, by individual contract, evaluations of students in the public schools in need evaluations beyond those provided by school personnel. All full psychological evaluations will include a general measure of intellectual ability, as well as basic personality measures and screening for neuropsychological impairment. We will also assess academic skills, in greater or lesser depth, depending on the purpose of the referral. Additional procedures will be added for particular questions, e.g., emotional or personality disorder, intellectual disability, neuropsychological impairment, attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders (ASD), learning disorders, etc.

Once you and the psychologist have clarified the referral issues and the questions you wish us to answer, we will propose in writing what assessment tools we will use and tell you how much that and the final report will cost. The total cost will typically run between $500 and $900, but some school evaluations in which we must integrate our work with that of other professionals in writing the final report are often more costly. These affairs are typically adversarial independent educational evaluations (IEE), but often the parents do not bear all of the costs.

Law enforcement evaluations in Texas (L-3) are $300, unless there are exceptional evaluative circumstances.

Additional, hourly charges will be assessed for courtroom appearances, depositions, admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee meetings, uncontracted consultation, etc. These fees will be the same hourly fee as billed for individual psychotherapy, including travel time ($95/hour).

Psychotherapy and Appearance Fees

We provide traditional psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and older children. For younger children, we use play or activity therapy. Couples or family therapy is also available, including work from a Gottman level 3 therapist. One of our therapists is trained in mediation as well.

All psychotherapy/counseling sessions, as well as appearances in court-related activities, ARD committee meetings, etc., are billed at $95 per hour, or any fraction thereof in quarter-hour increments. Psychotherapy or counseling “hours” are 50 minutes long, allowing 10 minutes of the hour for charting and other record keeping,
